Food intolerance testing

Food intolerance testing is a diagnostic assessment used to identify sensitivities to certain foods that may contribute to ongoing symptoms or general discomfort. Unlike food allergies, which trigger an immediate immune reaction, food intolerances usually develop gradually and are often linked to digestive problems or other nonspecific symptoms. Because these reactions may appear hours or even days after consuming a particular food, identifying the exact trigger can be difficult without specialized testing.

By analyzing the body’s response to specific food components, the test can provide insights into potential dietary triggers. These results may help explain certain symptoms and support a more individualized approach to nutrition. Appropriate dietary adjustments may help reduce symptoms, improve digestive comfort, and support overall well-being.

When may the test be considered?

Food intolerance testing may be considered in situations such as:

  • recurring digestive discomfort, including bloating, abdominal pain, or irregular bowel habits

  • suspected reactions to certain foods

  • persistent fatigue or reduced energy levels

  • skin problems that may be associated with dietary triggers

  • evaluation of dietary factors in patients with chronic health conditions
