Taping

Kinesiology taping is a supportive therapy in which a flexible, elastic tape is carefully applied to the skin over muscles or joints. Designed to move naturally with the body, the tape provides gentle support without restricting normal movement.

By subtly lifting the skin and supporting the underlying structures, kinesiology taping may help reduce strain on overworked areas, improve awareness of movement, and support local circulation. Because the tape is lightweight and flexible, it can usually be worn comfortably for several days while you continue your normal daily activities.

When may kinesiology taping be considered?

Kinesiology taping may be considered when muscles or joints are under increased physical stress, such as after sports, physical work, or prolonged periods of repetitive movement. It is often used to provide additional support to areas such as the shoulders, back, knees, or ankles while allowing the body to move naturally.

Many people choose kinesiology taping as part of a broader therapeutic approach aimed at supporting recovery, improving movement comfort, and helping the body adapt to physical demands.

Medical assessment

Before kinesiology taping is applied, the doctor reviews your medical history, current symptoms, and relevant clinical findings. This assessment helps determine whether kinesiology taping is appropriate and identifies the most suitable taping technique for the area being treated.

The application is always tailored to the individual and adapted to the specific functional needs of the patient.

FAQ

Kinesiology tape is designed to be flexible and to move naturally with the body. It provides gentle support while still allowing a full range of motion, which makes it suitable for everyday activities, rehabilitation, and physical exercise.

When applied by a trained professional, kinesiology taping is considered a safe and non-invasive technique. Before applying the tape, the practitioner will assess your condition to ensure that this type of support is appropriate for you.

High-quality kinesiology tape is water-resistant, so normal activities such as showering are usually not a problem. Light water activities are also possible, although prolonged soaking or strong friction may cause the tape to loosen sooner.

The application of kinesiology tape is painless. Most people quickly get used to wearing the tape and often barely notice it during normal daily activities.
