Neural therapy

Neural therapy is an approach used in integrative medicine that involves administering small amounts of a local anesthetic into carefully selected areas of the body—such as the skin, muscles, or regions near nerves. It works by influencing the autonomic nervous system, which plays a key role in regulating inflammation, circulation, and pain perception.

As a result, it may help reduce pain, ease inflammation, and support better tissue function. Neural therapy is most often considered for chronic or recurring conditions and is typically part of a broader, personalized treatment plan.

When may neural therapy be considered?

Neural therapy may be used as a supportive treatment option in cases such as:

  • chronic pain conditions (e.g., back or joint pain),

  • headaches and migraines,

  • musculoskeletal complaints,

  • certain inflammatory or functional disorders,

  • symptoms related to nerve or tissue irritation.

In some cases, treatment may also address so-called interference fields (such as scars), which in neural therapy are thought to affect the functioning of the nervous system.

Medical assessment

The decision to use neural therapy is made by the treating doctor based on the patient’s clinical condition, medical history, and other relevant health information.

If the therapy is considered appropriate and no contraindications are present, an individualized treatment plan is developed. The procedure is carried out under medical supervision and forms part of a comprehensive therapeutic strategy.
